Dear Friends,
I'm happy to be back after a long time away, now relocated to the US.
Please entertain a question on pottery surfaces in milk, a test I'm
doing in order to ascertain what is disinfected and what is not. Can
someone tell me what to expect, roughly speaking. For example, am I
going to gag from the smell? Or would that be a person of 'lesser
strength.' (I'll be sure not to ask certain members of my childhood
family.)
Meantime I'll get back with the details as to what I am doing/ will do.
But in brief, my plan is to silver treat four pieces of pottery, keeping
another three as control pieces, with no silver. I am assuming (hoping)
that the silver treated pieces will show little or no sign of bacteria,
while the control pieces will show lots of bacteria.
Unless I can figure out something in the meantime, like with your
suggestions/ hints, my plan is to immerse the six terra cotta pieces in
milk, at least overnight and perhaps for twenty four hours. Then I'd
imagine I could perform some kind of primitve incubation, in a warm,
damp space, etc.
Any observations or questions I would highly appreciate.
Sincerely,
Reid
