You have to be careful using CS or any of the antibiotics sold for aquarium use. Here's why... An established fish tank will have an extensive colony of beneficial bacteria in the gravel and any filtration system. These bacteria are needed to break down fish wastes to less harmful contaminants. Regular partial water changes are needed to keep the water clean enough for healthy fish. CS in the tank will immediately KILL the bacterial population of the tank and overwhelm the fish with the byproducts of that die-off. The CS doesn't kill the fish -- directly -- all the bacterial waste in the water does. If you'd like to try using CS to treat an infection, then you should carefully prepare a quarantine tank and transfer your fish to that for treatment. Hope that helps. Mike D.
