You may be right. Crookes used agar and gelatin, but
he may have used broth too. I don't think the secondary
source I referred to (Searle) gave all the details of
Crookes' work. I'm sure it's available if I chase down
the footnotes in Searle, some of which I'm doing now.
My research librarian is kidding me about my quest
for " Dead Sea scrolls" again, as if I were an
Indiana Jones wannabe.
