The Jacob Lab low odor DMSO has 10% urea. Due to this oral use will never be recommended. BUT lots of people use urea orally in very small quantities. It is used in urine therapy to enhance the effect. There is controversy within the traditional medical field surrounding the use of human urine or urea. Although it is used in brain and kidney surgeries.
The smell may be the urea or a compound that has formed from the DMSO and urea. Urea is converted to ammonia if you allow urine to sit for more than ten minutes. If it smells like ammonia or stale urine this is what is happening when your DMSO shot sits out. There is the Gaylord Chemicals no odor DMSO but it is even more expensive than the Jacob Lab low odor DMSO. ~$180 liter or $100 per 500 ml. I am told by Gaylord's VP or Marketing in Texas that it is only sold to health care workers by their vendors even though it is OTC. I have not tried to find it myself. But if I were needing to use it frequently or orally I would. Their product is also USP so it is safe for injection.
