Thanks for your insights Ode, and Trem. I have used these for about a
year and have not really had any problems. I wipe the one electrode
every other batch or so. Used to wipe every 1/2 gallon batch but it does
not seem to make much difference. I can straighten the strips easily
using a tissue to avoid contact with my "grimy little hands". <smile> 

I have not had a yellow batch since I started using the tissue to adjust
any bends or crinks from inadvertently hitting the jar when inserting
them.
