I use my SG6 on canning jars of any size, currently I use Half Gallon wide mouth jars. Gallon jars would also fit. With wide mouth it sits just inside the rim, with regular it sits over the rim.
I like the stirring rod feature. And the use of silver strips, although I know some prefer the wire, I find the strips easy to adjust and keep parallel.
