The genetic diseases that show up in this population are Mediterranean,
but there is a mixture of Native American and Negro as well. Google
<melungeon>. There are lots of sites. The History channel ran a program
last week on them that got us looking. My husband has the bump on the
back of his head, his brother has the epicanthic eye fold (oriental or
Native American), and the high cheek bones, the shovel teeth and darker
than normal skin tones.
