I'm wondering the same thing as you are, Duncan. I've heard this before 
and have a hard time believing it the way it's been presented. 

Before I brand the idea hooey in my mind, I'd dearly love somebody to 
explain in reasonable detail the mechanism by which your body forever 
loses the ability to synthesize these enzymes.

It would make sense to me that it might take until middle age to get 
sufficiently toxified and de-mineralized so as to finally shut these 
processes down, but why the allegedly permanent disability?
