The nose drops didn't work for me either, but then I was so overconfident I wouldn't get the cold (my husband brought it home) that I likely did not start nearly soon enough. In addition, until the thing had really settled in and I began to wonder why I caught it, I didn't realize how much I had slacked off misting my eyes and hands, nor how much I had let my diet deteriorate, nor realize I had also slacked off most of my supplements.

I think the bottom line for me is I either have to stop the "bugs" before they set up housekeeping, or jump on them at the very first sign, and I probably did neither. I was, at the time taking a pint or more of oral CS daily for other purposes, and I guess I expected that to take up the slack, but for me it didn't. Everything in my prior health history (I'm 58), and history with URI infections says I am extremely vulnerable to them.

During the previous two years of never catching a cold, no matter how closely exposed, I did feel one coming on once or twice, and immediatly did the peroxide in the ears thing, and upped the frequency of misting and CS nose drops. Didn't do that, either. Sigh. Perhaps I was influenced by folks who believe CS use strengthens the immune system, but the whole experience proved to me I have the same old immune system as I did before I ever heard of CS.

A variable of cold treatment is -- how soon do you know you've got one?
I may mist eyes with CS, and rinse hands with CS too as a preventive after being out with people. With the first tickle in the back of the nose or throat, I use my trusty nebulizer. I inhale 5 deep breaths of the mist by mouth (NOT with my mouth around the mouthpiece) then breathe in ten breaths of the mist through the nostrils, moistening all crevices.
I've done this one time this past year. No colds. I'm 69.
Once, when I had an obvious cold, I used 4 nosedrops of 5 ppm CS in each nostril EVERY 10 MINUTES for 1 hour. Cold gave up instantly. Judy Down Maine
