My friends, The calendar is soon to read 2005.
Around the other side of the world from me, many thousands are dead, and millions are homeless, threatened with disease, thirst, and starvation, in the aftermath of the tsunami in the Indian Ocean basin. We have members scattered across the globe, and others who've visited or lived in some of the places affected. If any of you have concerns, insights or thoughts to share, I'd appreciate hearing from you. If you have personal glimpses of relief efforts, the devastation, or of any other consequences of the situation or if you know anyone affected, please tell us. Suggestions for ways to help would be welcome too, please. So this is the year we're supposed to see how CODEX Alimentarus will affect the nutritional supplement industry in the US. Nobody I've talked to at any local health food store seems the least bit concerned. I suppose they'll just sell whatever they're allowed to sell and get on with what's left of their business. New kinds of flu, antibiotic resistant bacteria, germ warfare threats, and countless other worries will continue to make it into the news. That, even as millions continue to march to their deaths, firm in their faith that their doctors will cure them of disease if anybody can. But all those things, like world politics, economics, war, or the vageries of the energy markets, pale into insignificance when the earth itself simply shrugs a little. In that light, humanity can be likened to a lichen on a rock on the slopes of the Mt. St. Helen volcano... There's not much we can do except hold on for dear life and look out for each other as best as we can when things start to rumble. So whatever new threats come along, let's meet them with the same determination that we have brought to our exploration of alternative health. Lets do what we can to gain strength in ourselves, give aid to our loved ones and friends, and to help strangers who ask for it. It's a small thing we do here on this list, except for those who learn what they need to heal themselves or others. Then it's the biggest thing in the world.
