A 70 y o friend had severe skin eruptions recently -- open wounds really, mostly from her waist down and under her bra. The conclusion was that it was not detergent allergy but polyester allergy. She put petrolatum based medication (from doctor) on it and it was REALLY reactive. A geriatric nurse told her that polyester-petroleum allergy can come on fast and is now more comnmon because of our synthetic clothing materials.
