Actually they are copper coated zinc. If you cut one open you see the zinc 
inside with a very thin copper layer covering the outside.

Yeah I have been doing that common item supplement search quite a bit. figuring 
out where to get supplements if they are ever removed from the market. 
there are many things one can use to get tons of most nutrients, from common 
stuff. For example a real good source of potassium is "cream of tartar"  major 
source of B vitamins are available from dessicated liver powder or nutritional 
yeast. Need Lysine in quantity? take bee pollen. Vitamin B 5 you get from Royal 
Jelly. Vitamin C....rose hips and yellow bell peppers. Magnesium chloride is 
"Nigari" they use to harden tofu.
