Subject: CS>OT - iodine deficiency
Hello,
I've been using "Real Salt" for about a year now and my mother came to visit
and is concerned that we will become iodine deficient.
I know that "Real Salt" is good for you because of the minerals. Does
anyone know of a good source of iodine aside from using iodised salt?
Sorry for the off-topic question but so many people here are knowledgeable.
Blessings,
Lea Ann Savage
================
Lea Ann,
Standard Process has an organic mineral product that contains high amounts
of kelp.
Some people also use Lugol's iodine. It can be ordered through the mail from
Willner Chemist in New York City. It's also good to use for a patch test to
determine iodine deficiency.
Lugol's is not considered as safe as atomic (colloidal) iodine made
according to the principles of Edgar Cayce. Dr. Kae, my teacher, sells this
iodine (there's a link to it on my website,
http://www.nenahsylver.com/default.asp?contentID=826&toplevel=598 . On my
website there's also other information about the thyroid.
Finally, the sea salt I use is Celtic Salt from France. From what I have
read, salt from the land is often deficient in iodine, whereas salt from the
sea is not. I once tried Real Salt and didn't care for it. However, the
Celtic Salt from the Grain & Salt Society (phone: 800-TOPSALT) tastes
wonderful and alive. It contains iodine as well as all the trace minerals.
White granulated sea salt from the health food store, while it may not
contain additives, is deficient in minerals. The color in both the Real Salt
and Celtic Sea Salt indicate that the trace minerals have not been removed.
Best,
Nenah
