When I was a kid back in the 1930s,it was fairly common to see women with
Goiters,but not men.I also remember babies having the soles of their feet
painted with "Churchills" tincture of Iodine.We always had a bottle of it in
our house.I also remember salt coming in a solid block,and if you wanted
some,you scraped it off with a spoon,the same with sugar.
