Another book I just finished reading is "Trust Us We're Experts!", by Sheldon Rampton and John Stauber. It isn't just the medical but virtually all big industry and government, the most egregious actions are in the pollution and tobacco area. In the book they went through all the "lies" the tobacco lawyers told in court, and the series of reversals to be replaced with another lie:
Tobacco smoking is good for you Tobacco smoking is not good for you, but doesn't hurt you Tobacco smoking does not cause cancer Tobacco smoking does cause cancer but not in humans Tobacco smoking can cause cancer in humans, but not their tobacco Their tobacco can cause cancer in humans but not in the quantities that a smoker would smoke Their tobacco can cause cancer in humans at the amounts that a smoker smokes but second hand smoke is harmless.
