As a clinical microbiologist for over 30 years i have look at thousands of specimens microscopically a nd very few are sterile. Sterile is defined as no microbes present. urine may be sterile in the kidney but as it passes thru the urethrea it can pick up microbes , but the main issue is : are any of the microbes pathogenic==== most are not if picked up in the urethera.
