With amalgam fillings still being used because, as my mainstream dentist said, they most effective, most likely because it is the cheapest way of repairing cavities short of pulling the teeth, the damage to health can be disastrous for those vulnerable to mercury.
Personal experience: at age 29 I lost sight in one eye,had tremors, lost balance, and a host of other older niggling health issues came to a head, culminating in diagnosis of MS. Not a pleasant notice from my the GP with 3 toddlers under 3, the youngest being only 3 months old. To cut a long story short... it took me roughly 10 years of researching on my own to come up with mercury poisoning. By then my health had deteriorated badly. As another member of this group mentioned, it was all in my head according to doctors, neurologists, GP, and the thought of mercury was dismissed. My gut instinct told me they were wrong, nothing to back it up with. My attitude didn't help doctors thinking that I was nuts.
I went ahead anyway, had all my mercury fillings removed... and the rest is history. My health picked up beyond belief. Feeling well in general. From looking like 'death warmed up' I started to look healthier , slowly started to gain weight. Probably because of the long term poisoning some of the damage done to immune system and nervous system is lingering on but in general this whole exercise was like a physical rebirth for me. With taking care of my health as well as I can I might see another 50 years yet.
How sensitive to mercury I am? must be more sensitive than others: I needed a course of Hep B vaccinations(working on ambulance)... only 3 in one course...over 6 months... and a final blood test was supposed to show antibodies to Hep B. No antibodies were detected and a 4th injection was offered. This 4th one will fix it, those were my GP's words. It only clicked then with me that the niggling neurological probs had increased again over the last 6 months, and instead of this 4th injection I asked if I could read what was in the darned things. Thimerosal, a derivative of Mercury. I had my answer. oh...and the GP only then wrote on cover of file: Mercury sensitive.
Mercury safe??? Not in my books.......... Hanneke~Australia
