##  Probably both.  I used the LED to get a guess of current flow..I could
only see it lit in a completely dark room.
 I supposed the slightly reddish streal on the skin surface between the
electrodes might indicate some irritation, but it didn't seem 'damaging'.
  If current gets higher, you can feel it.  With pulses, it will make
things twitch.
 PS  I did use some CS [EIS] with 10%  DMSO to whet the electrodes and few
times. [ I forgot about that]
