It's most likely the "grey fuzzies". [Archive search keyword?] It's just silver stuck onto the surface tension of hydrogen bubbles for the most part..some metallic particles and some silver hydroxide. All generators produce that stuff as part of the byproducts. A fast stir rate will tend to build it up on the upstream side of a round electrode, or on the back side of of a flat electrode where eddy currents increase particle velocity.
Using new unpitted electrodes, it just washes into the water. Most of it will stay on the electrode if it is removed slowly. What drops in disintigrates in a few days. Any that doesn't, will stay on the bottom and the water can be decanted off the top 7/8ths leaving it there. It's harmless, but do wipe it off if it gets really thick as it can interfere with the auto off sensing.
