You might also try a multipronged approach using things like propolis,
calendula, and other herbal germ killers. One might have an ingredient not
found in the others.
In a UK health food store I have seen a homeopathic remedy for
mononucleosis. I don't recall the name or
brand, but a search should bring that up. A quick search brings up the
"ordinary" remedies people have been using, but there is one made
specifically from the mononucleosis germ; they probably would call it a

Glandular fever (infectious mononucleosis)
Viral infection, spread by personal contact, which begins rather like
Influenza (fever, sore throat, headache, general achiness); within a day or
two glands become swollen and painful, tonsils enlarge and become
dirty-looking, and Jaundice or a rash similar to that of Rubella may
develop. Though these symptoms wear off in 2-3 weeks, full recovery may take
some time (see Chronic fatigue syndrome). Since antibiotics are ineffectual
against viruses, only treatment is rest and plenty of fluids. Your GP will
