Hello Teri,
Yes I do know this. His last vaccine was a rabies vaccine about 10
months ago. It would not surprise me at all if this were the cause... I
stopped all other vaccines 3 years ago. He seems to be doing well at the
moment... his hematocrit is 37 (has been fluctuating between 35 and 38) for
the last 9 or ten days. His energy levels aren't what they used to be but
he's on 20mg Prednisone and 5mg Doxycycline twice daily. He's eating,
drinking, peeing and pooping quite normally. I also give him a teaspoon of
CS (10ppm) a day and 5-6 chlorella tabs as well as barley dog in his food.
So far, so good but it'll be many weeks if not months before I know he'll be
ok. He's got to be weaned off the prednisone very gradually over a period
of months even though he'll be on this dose for only 3 weeks (it's been
about two so far). I've also started treating him with my Pyroenergen
machine in case this is due to a virus (CS will help as well). Hoping he
doesn't relapse... after many tests no one knows the real cause... could be
vaccine, chemical exposure (including flea and tick med), tick bite, blood
parasite etc. Cancer has been ruled out after many tests. He was never
sick a day in his life before this... happened while hiking for three days
in Yosemite National Park. His only symptom was a sudden inability to
walk... lasting for only about a minute or so, then he snapped out of it but
this got progressively worse. Initially his hematocrit went from 25 (first
day I took him to the vet) to 11... took him in for a transfusion at that
time... he's been bouncing back ever since. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Many thanks.
Bob
