Sorry, I should have. I am somewhat sensitive to DMSO so I keep it weak. I have read here (I believe Richard Harris said it) that DMSO is effective at even 2 % added to EIS.

For topical herpes cold sore treatment my husband uses a mix of about half and half DMSO/EIS. (the DMSO we use is 99.9% pure veterinary grade, looks like the brand sold at www.jeffersequine.com, but I can get it locally). For my eye and nose drops, I use a one ounce dropper bottle, and put in one whole dropper of DMSO, and fill with EIS. I have been thinking of adding two droppersful DMSO but haven't tried that yet.

For nebulizing I use 1 oz EIS (mine is around 12-15 ppm)- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon pure MSM crystals (Opti-msm)- and 5 drops of DMSO. This is for my chronic URI pet rabbit, and it is used for ear drops as well (but NOT for eyes--the MSM doesn't hurt eyes, but it stings like the devil--when I used it in my rabbit's eye without testing it on me first is when he bit through my thumbnail, I had it coming!). Since he gets nebulized on a regular basis, I always have it made up, so I just use the same stuff for us humans. But if it was only for humans, one could add more DMSO, according to tolerance.

I'm trying to use a mouthwash (I swish and hold as long as I can stand it) of 10% DMSO and 90% EIS for my root-canal teeth, but am finding it *very* difficult to use even once a day, as it is really foul. Doesn't bother my husband though: he used it for weeks twice or more a day, for a possible abscess.

I don't really measure anything anymore except the recipe for my bunny. For us humans, for soaks, mouthwashes, or whatever, I just ballpark the porportions of DMSO to EIS.

When my cat sprained a toe I wetted it with the 10% DMSO to EIS. He didn't like it being dipped, so I just soaked a cotton ball in the mix and dabbed it on until the toe was wet to the skin. I only mention this because the vet wanted to put him on preventive antibiotics for it, because she said this kind of injury in cats often gets abscessed/infected. He healed up fine without them, with just the EIS/DMSO treatment.

Did I forget anything?

Evening Sol,

What percent DMSO to CS do you use? Most people never mention the percent solution when talking about this.
