On another topic:

The group consensus has long recommended only pure distilled water for
making CS. This is for safety sake and so you can be sure of what you
are making.

If you add salt, baking soda, or other chemicals, or use tap or other
"normal" water with dissolved minerals in it, you *will* make silver
compounds of various sorts until the contaminants or additives are used
up. In fact, you will likely make nothing *but* those silver compounds,
as it's common for the impurities to be present in far greater
concentration than what you're trying to achieve of silver.

In addition, if you're using such impure water with a simple generator
with no way to limit the current, you will indeed make large particles
that *may* not be as safe or effective in the long run, plus the
process will "run away" very quickly. You will have to stop your
process within a few minutes at most, or else risk making hazardous
silver "mud" that is of such strength that it has been known to cause
argyria in people who have abused it.

I agree with Terry that virtually any CS is "good" CS, in that it's
better than having nothing. Certainly in an emergency or survival
situation or less developed conditions, it's acceptable to use whatever
can be found that is reasonably safe, provided you don't over-cook it
and make the aforementioned unsafe silver "mud."

Also, using silver electrolysis to sterilize water makes perfect sense,
but please do not consider it the same as making CS!

If you are in a more typical situation where distilled water is
available, please use it. We can help you learn how.

Be well,

Mike D.
