Hi Bil, I once had a Rat Terrier who had been run over, maybe by the tractor (he had a great fear of a cloud and would seek me out), or maybe by someone driving down the road. Anyway, I found him sitting by the back door one night with such an odd expression that I bent over to pet him. When I did, he fell over, as stiff as a board. I carried him inside and found him bleeding from every orifice. Aware of cayenne pepper at that time and it's ability to stop bleeding (causes regulation of blood pressure so as to not bleed out), I made a hot dose of cayenne tincture, or about as much cayenne as possible in two cc of water. I drenched my dog in the side of his mouth for he had clenched teeth. I then heavily stroked his throat to get him to swallow, which he did. No reaction at all to the cayenne tincture which had to be like fire. It was a case of life or death in my opinion. I then rushed him to the vet who kept him for a week before allowing him to come home, then he spent about two more weeks hobbling around. He was perfectly fine after that and there is no doubt in my mind but what the cayenne tincture saved his life.
