When was it isolated and cultured, and by whom?

virus
does exist. It is endemic, and everyone has it. When one gets AIDS, which
can
be from lots of things, benzene being a primary culprit, then the body's
immune
system falters. Once it falters then the HIV virus which is everywhere can
start
replicating, and thus becomes a very good marker for a depressed immune
system,
that is AIDS. The proof of the pudding is that if one takes the blood test
for
aids it will show 100% positive for everyone, unless you dilute the blood by
some large factor (100 to 1 I think), so that the antibodies are diluted to
below the threshold of the test. That is the way the test is run. So HIV is
apparently not a cause of AIDS, but rather and elevated level of HIV is an
indicator of AIDS or an immune deficiency.

It took a long time, but not only have they isolated it but they have mapped
its
genome. There is a genome map at
http://hiv-web.lanl.gov/content/immunology/pdf/2000/intro/GenomeMaps.pdf

Prior to that they were able to test for the antibodies to this "virus".

That is correct, from other diseases, and from toxins.

The test does not test for the cause of AIDS, but for a marker that becomes
more
dominate when one's immune system is suppressed. Saying it tests for the
virus
that causes AIDS is a fraud, but it is one of several tests that can detect
an
impaired immune system, in this case by monitoring the level of the HIV
marker
antibodies.
