Hi Bill.
What you need is around .5 mA per square inch of total wetted eletrodes. So if
Im using 2 silver bars that are 2 inch by 1.125 inch plus the edges would be
around 12 inchs I would set my gen to cap out at 6 mA. I believe it takes 6
inches of wetted 12 gauge wire to equal 1 square inch so it would take 12 inchs
of wetted 12 gauge wire for 1 mA. Hope that helps.

Sam L.

Carol Ann, The current is critical with making LVDC CS. If your power
supply is unregulated it will continue to 'ramp up' the current as the
conduction factor increases with the increase of CS %age. The best CS gen's
are those which have a current limiter to hold the current to 1ma or less.
Yours will provide up to 1000 times this (even though it may never reach that
point). The increase in current is taking 'bigger bites' of the silver
electrode without helping your actual CS. It is like taking a pinch of sand
and adding it to a bucket of water to make 'good' CS or, with the larger
current you are taking a handful and dumping it into the bucket. Some of the
handful will add to the CS but the 'clump' will fall to the bottom and be
wasted. By reducing the current your production time will increase but the
CS should rema!
 in clear
or very nearly so no matter what %age you reach. You can add a CLD to your
device easily since you are not using a 'manufactured' one. The instructions
are in the archives and help is available here whenever you ask. Best
