I enjoyed Richards post about old remedies. At Christmas , my brother in law shared a book he found at a yard sale. It was written in 1900 by a medical doctor. It had tons of rememdies (homeopathic and herbal) that Seem to be making a comeback. ONe example was the suggestion to use marshmellow and slippery elm for stomach burning. I use slippery elm for bladder burning and it is helpful. I dont think any medical doctor now would prescribe this with all of the acid inhibitor drugs. I say bring back these old remedies. Icthomil is also good for drawing out slivers as is soaking your hand in warm epsom salts. It is good to have your iron levels checked before taking an iron supplement esp if you are an adult male or woman past menopause. Iron overload is more prevalant than previously thought. Has anyone heard of detrimental effects that taking silica orally as a supplement for bones can cause? I have been reading many positive things about silica for osteoprosis but was cautioned by a health care person that it can build up and cause kidney damage. Also has anyaone heard of positive effects of taking terrimin? Thanks to all that have graciously answered my questions
