I am wondering whether CS can be used in ruminants when they get sick.

On our agricultural course we are learning about waiting times for
milk delivery and meat usage after an animal has been treated with
antibiotics.

I think that with CS instead of antibiotics there would not be
any waiting time - no loss of milk and no waste of time before
slaugter.

But what about their gut flora that is the main source of
protein for them? Will it be destroyed by the CS? Why is it
not destroyed by antibiotics, or is it?

What about the blood/udder barrier in cases of mastitis?

I hope there is somebody with farmer experience who can tell!

Many thanks,

Heidrun Beer
