Hi , i do hope that someone can give me some good advice...my daughter
age 5 has got a very bad chesty cough..so chesty that she wants to get sick
everytime she coughs...i give her 5ml of cs in the morning and at lunch
time..not as night as i read the insomnia post on taking cs at night...what
else can i do for her????any other natural re! medies that any of you know
of? shes drinking honey and lemon in warm water...i just dont want to take
her to the doc but i think its getting worse,,.. HELP Debbie

Debbie- I looked at my old Adelle Davis book for infections and she
recommends feeding lots of protein, like eggs, milk with brewer's yeast (I
used to add carob powder for flavor), yogurt, etc. and increasing Vitamin A
while the child is sick and also 100 - 200 iu Vit. E which protects against
Vit A toxicity, and 1-2 gms of Vit C a day. Also stress formula Vit B's
and particularly Pantothenic acid and B6. There are lots of herbs for
coughs like licorice, wild cherry bark, and slippery elm. I like
fishermen's friend's cough drops. Echinacea and goldenseal in tincture or
capsules are good anti-biotics. A heating pad on the chest can also
directly kill bacteria. I am always careful to put a towel between the pad
and chest and with a child it wouldn't be safe to sleep with it. Pads can
burn if slept on.
