The washer pumps are made to run fast and furious on 14 volts and may
well heat up and burn out if run a long time...so run it slower on 5 or 6
volts.
They are also designed to move a lot of liquid through a small orifice at
high pressure. We don't need high pressure. At a lower voltage and no
pressure needed to speak of, both heat buildup and load is greatly reduced
and the pump should move a plenty of water for a long time ... at a low
purr vs an angry buzz.
The smallest submersible is just too big for most setups, in both
physical size and capacity and will require a recycling loop to reduce the
flow without overloading the motor with back up pressure if the outflow is
merely pinched off. However, If it's a DC pump, the voltage can be lowered
on that one as well.
...and I don't think that submerging a whole pump in CS is the greatest
idea with all the rubber and screws and paint etc... even if it will fit
into the container.

These are made for intermittent duty. Not sure they would survive
continuous duty.
