Louis- CS would work on an infective state in the intestines like diarrhea, or for nausea/vomiting, but the IBS symptoms I've experienced seem to be an allergic reaction to specific foods. If I avoid these foods, I am fine. My impression is that the foods cause peristalsis to cease or slow down in my intestines, for the next day. I normally have a very fast transit time. If you want to see how fast your transit time is, just eat some beets and wait. :-)

Thanks Lou In a message dated 06/04/2006 20:35:05 GMT Standard Time, [email protected] writes: I have had relief from IBS by discovering foods that trigger it. The only way to do this I have found is to not eat something for a while then eat it and see if it causes problems. Some foods I have discovered are cooked tomatoes, but I can eat raw tomatoes, whole wheat or spelt, but I can eat a little white flour products, and lately I seem to have a problem with oranges and maybe pineapple. It is great to be problem-free after years of continual problems. I am also trying to get close to the raw food diet- a fruit/nut/coconut salad and a vegetable salad daily, but eat poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, and some cooked vegetables avoiding really starchy ones except I eat some beans several times a week, like black beans, garbanzos, pinto, and navy, since I'be decided they are beneficial for protein and fiber. I eat salmon 2 days a week, and only use olive and coconut oils, though I'm trying some grapeseed oil lately for cooking.
