Oopsie! Sorry for the misstep, I may have been too high on cabbage
juice when I replied to Harold's post. ;)
Ok, ok, jokes aside, I do get your point Mike, and thanks for the
reminder. And I hope my response to Harold wasn't seen as an attack or
too distasteful, and if so, please receive my sincere apologies.

Hi gang!
Since we have a number of new members getting used to the place, it's
time for a reminder from the list owner...
Politics (like religion) is a prohibited topic on the main Silver List.
Harold's post is not appropriate, and Maryou's response is a perfect
illustration of the next tiny step from that first political post to a
full blown brouhaha. <grin>
There is simply *nothing* you can say on either topic that is so
innocuous that *somebody* won't disagree or take offense.
So, the rule is: Don't post political or religious comments, and don't
respond to those posted by others.
Not meaning to stomp totally on personal expression in the religious
realm, the occasional "God Bless" or other passing references to your
own faith is acceptable, but stay off the soap box and don't comment on
others' remarks or beliefs.
Of course, if you'd like to discuss (not argue or debate) these topics
with others of an open minded bent, we have the Silver Off Topic list
to take the overflow from here. You can subscribe to it in a similar
way to the main list, and I'm happy to allow and help referee our more
meandering discussions there.
The Silver List Rules and instructions for joining the OT list are at
our web site: http://www.silverlist.org ... the address for which is
in the footer at the bottom of every list message.
If anybody else replies to either Harold's or Maryou's messages before
seeing this one, please just ignore them. It may take a day or two for
everybody to catch up with their mail.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation, everyone. I appreciate the
community we have here very much.
Be well,
Mike D.
da list owner, dude!
Hi Harold:
Just some personal thoughts: :o)
The essence of capitalism is indeed good, and is perhaps even a required
tool for man to thrive in a material world.
However, capitalism would be much better off without credit card
companies - I don't mean without a credit system - considering the fraud
they represent by being able to 'advance' money they merely create or
obtain out of thin air. The evils of fractional reserve are what come
to mind.
As for the government counting votes...errrmm...ummm....actually, when
was the last time the government seriously considered counting votes
without rigging them? ;)

car from someone who doesn't speak English and, when I get home Visa
or MasterCard will have it counted to the penny. And the government
can't even count the votes in Florida."
