Yeah? Websites copying rubbish off each other again? First misquote, then
copy misquote.
It looks to me as if the angelfire site may have misquoted the island site.
Who are the other many sites that blindly quote a misquote, then?

The island site says:
Silver is mentioned in the Bible. Royalty carried water in silver vessels in
the belief that this water would help them maintain their health. Before
refrigeration a silver dollar was placed in containers of milk to maintain
freshness.

Three separate statements.
1. Silver is mentioned in the Bible.
2. Royalty carried water in silver vessels in the belief that this water
would help them maintain their health. (Which royalty? No examples given.
European?)
32. Before refrigeration a silver dollar was placed in containers of milk to
maintain freshness.

So I'm sorry, Angelfire loses points both for misquoting someone else's site
and for trying to make it sound as if the Bible supports use of silver for
health without either knowing what it says or looking it up.

The Bible does not say that royalty carried water in silver vessels IN THE
BELIEF THAT this water would etc.
They may well have carried water in silver vessels.
They may well have believed that this, or any other, water would keep them
healthy - more, keep them alive, indeed!

There are some 379 references to silver in the Bible. Lots of them are to
do with silver bowls and vessels. Lists of who had or donated what, when,
and where.
None of them say anything like "And the king ordered that water be placed in
silver vessels in order that the health of his royal household might be
maintained."
Most of them are just descriptions of the vessels. Other vessels were gold
or copper. Then they had wineskins, didn't they, and earthenware jars? The
contents of all of which no doubt kept them alive and healthy.

Less mundane silver references? - lots of them have negative connotations.
As already quoted, Belshazzar's misuse of temple goods, when silver gods
were praised, too. (There was also the vision of the idol with breast & arms
of silver). And Joseph's ploy of having the silver cup put in the sack of
grain.

Although silver gets good press too, there are things like:
(From Isaiah) Your silver itself has become scummy dross. Your wheat beer
is diluted with water. Your princes are stubborn and partners with thieves.
Every one of them is a lover of a bribe and a chaser after gifts
............. In that day the earthling man will throw his worthless gods
of silver and his valueless gods of gold that they had made for him to bow
before to the shrewmice and to the bats .......... Here I am arousing
against them the Medes, who account silver itself as nothing and who, as
respects gold, take no delight in it (going on to say they would destroy
Babylon). ........ For in that day they will reject each one his worthless
gods of silver and his valueless gods of gold - (followed by the promise
of restoration to the effect that in place of iron, there would come to be
silver).

Deuteronomy: And YOU used to see their disgusting things and their dungy
idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, that were with them;.... And you
kept decking yourself with gold and silver, .....And you would take your
beautiful articles from my gold and from my silver that I had given to you
and you would make for yourself images of a male and prostitute yourself
with them........ Much scummy dross, [that of] silver, they have become.
.......... As in collecting silver (in furnace)....so I shall collect
[them] together in my anger and in my rage, and I will blow and cause YOU
people to liquefy. ... As in the liquefying of silver in the midst of a
furnace, so YOU people will be liquefied in the midst of her

Judges: to persuade Delilah to betray Sampson, she was offered by each of
the enemy one thousand one hundred silver pieces."

Proverbs paraphrase: Wisdom and discernment better than silver and gold. A
good name better than riches and favor better than silver and gold. ....
Remove the dross from the silver and it will come forth refined. .... A
word at the right time is like apples of gold in silver carvings. ....
Fervent lips along with a bad heart are like silver glazing on an
earthenware fragment.

Ezekiel prophesied that they would throw their silver into the streets and
abhor their gold, neither of which would be able to save them in the day of
God's fury.

Matt: Do not procure gold or silver or copper for YOUR girdle purses, or a
food pouch for the trip, or two undergarments, or sandals or a staff; for
the worker deserves his food

Acts: May your silver perish with you, because you thought through money to
get possession of the free gift of God. ...... The magical arts books that
were burned were worth fifty thousand pieces of silver. .

The effect of silver is enough on its own. It doesn't need to misuse a book
of truth to add lustre to its beauty.
