No but I plan to.  Be aware that cotton is somewhat hydroscopic, and will
absorb moisture when breathed on.  Upon both absorbing and dehydrating,
it will tend to undulate if the end is not restricted. This could be what
they are seeing.  I have taken cotton thread and moistened it and watched
it do that while drying decades ago, but I am not sure modern threads are
made from pure cotton any more.
