Let's see nurse, that order was to remove the LEFT, leg, right? -----Original Message----- From: M. G. Devour [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, May 20, 2006 5:47 PM To: [email protected] Subject: CS>CAUTION: Nicotine versus Nitroglycerine
After Jim said that he may have been mistaken about NICOTINE patches versus the previously discussed NITROGLYCERINE patches for treating brown recluse bites, I did some net research to check. As far as I can tell, nicotine is NOT a vasodilator and will probably have little if any benefit. Of course, using the wrong thing will delay proper treatment, which could cause serious problems. NITROGLYCERINE patches are suggested to treat brown recluse bites, not nicotine patches. Which is a darned shame, since nitroglycerine patches are prescription only around here and nicotine patches are available over-the-counter. Barbara, please let your friend know to discard the information about nicotine, before anybody is confused by it? Thanks, all. It's tough to keep things straight sometimes. Be well, Mike D.
