Pat,
It sounds like your son was having a herx reaction with Natren's probiotics. 
My son did too, so I spaced it out more and gave it once every other day unitl 
he could handle more. For the bowel inflammation have him look into glutamine 
to heal and restore the gut integrity. Colostrum also comes from goat.
