Marshall, it would appear that it is being spread by more than just the deer tick, and similar Borrelia organisms are causing similar illnesses. Also, rather than being confined to particular areas of the USA, Lyme and similar problems are world wide, even where there are no deer or deer ticks. One practitioner is calling it Borreliosis (I think) rather than Lyme disease to include similar organisms and illnesses.
