Dear Ruth, and anyone else interested, I just opened a hotmail account and figured out how they have disguised the setting for HTML versus plain text.
If you click the button for New Message, you'll be presented with a mail editor window. Just above the To: line you'll have a row of controls or buttons. If you select Tools, the last item in the drop down menu should be: Rich-text Editor (OFF) This is true if you've been sending HTML fancy formatted mail. Click on it and you'll see all the controls for font and formatting disappear from the mail editor window. It may ask you to confirm that's what you want to do. If so, click OK in the little popup box. Then you'll be editing and sending only plain text!! It CAN BE DONE!! Bwahahahaha!! I am a genius!! <sigh> I'm better now. Hope that helps. <grin> Be well, Mike D.
