I am pleased with our Purani. It is a minimally sized frame which supports three cylindrical white plastic filter units connected by hoses to tap, each other, and outlet hose, and I have it fixed to the wall near my kitchen sink. The inlet hose could be fixed to the kitchen tap with a switch to divert to tap or filter, but I put an extra "tap" in especially for the connection to the filter so that when I want to top up my water container I just turn that dedicated tap on. I also have a digital timer nearby, and when I turn the tap on I also turn the timer on. After 15 minutes it beeps, and I can switch it all off or set it for another 15 minutes, depending on the amount of water I have or am likely to need. 30 minutes fills the ceramic jar, the kind that goes under the big bottles of water and has a little spigot at the bottom. I have the jar near the edge of the workbench so that when I want to fill a glass or kettle, I just put it under the spigot. The filter units are replaced when they get bunged up. www.valley.iinet.net.au/HvHealthAppliances.pdf It is said to be made in the USA and assembled in Australia, but I have a hard job finding any reference to it on line. The refill units are now called Aquapro, and I find the Aquapro units are from Taiwan. http://www.aquapro.com.tw/ http://www.aquapro.com.tw/images/PageB09.htm It looks like the top right hand picture on http://www.um-um.pl/product_info.php?products_id=1374&language=en but I have it fixed horizontally not vertically. Bottom right pic on http://www.hydrofil.com.au/ . This one has a good special price at the moment. Also similar to ( http://tinyurl.com/fp45s ) http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Portable-4st-100GPD-Reverse-Osmosis-RO-Water-Filter_W0QQitemZ120014647974QQihZ002QQcategoryZ20684QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting - the cylinders can be moved around but I have them parallel against the wall, small units above and below the bigger central unit..
There is a similar-but-different picture of a Merlin in santeforhealth http://www.santeforhealth.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=188 which someone has put in an under-sink cupboard, but I have mine on the wall, with the outlet wastewater hose passing down through the benchtop and the wooden floor, under the house, and exiting into a kind of birdbath in the garden. Strange how hard it was to find anything like it on the net. The name Purani kept taking me to India! Rowena Purani Reverse Osmosis Unit: $330.00Compact unit-fitting included for laundry taps. This will be used for drinking water and not CS. Would prefer one that does not connect to the plumbing but can be placed on the kitchen counter top.
