My numbers were pretty close.
12 gage = 0.0808 inches diameter = 2.053 mm diameter

You may be 100 % right. I did not see these numbers.
I posted some numbers also, including the ones I measured with some
very good calipers.
I laughed as I read your message.
When Ten of the best brains around can't come up with the same
answer, ....... it proves my point.
Gauge is not a unit of measure. Check the International System of Units.
It is an approximation at best.
However, if your numbers came from the company that made the wire in
question, it is likely right.
All this makes me wonder, ........... "What difference does it make"?
I keep my calipers with me all the time, working, loafing, playing,
and hunting.
That way I don't have to worry about the thing called gauge.
The most important gauge to me is my air gauge.
I sure hope we don't get into defining the different air pressures.
I suspect Mike is going to tell us to move to the off topic list at any moment.
