"Air" ionizers make ozone, some more than others.
Ozone is highly corrosive to organic molecules. Too much ozone makes
things fall apart, like drill cords, tires and...lungs.
A little bit could be a good thing for stimulating the growth of new
cells by killing old weak ones, but you definitely don't want to kill old
cells faster than you can grow new ones.
A mist maker is not an ionizer. It could be called an atomizer, like,
spray bottles are called atomizers.
