Thanks to all and to you Steve. This is the only positive note on antibiotic treatment I heard. Most said it did nothing. I have an appointment with VA doc. We'll see....

As a result of a visit to a dermatologist, it went into remission as I took small doses of a prescribed, inexpensive antibiotic. I was able to taper the doses down each week, and eventually only needed one capsule a week, then nothing.
