I am wondering if anybody cleans new glass bottles before putting in
cs. Normally, when I buy spice jars or anything I am going to use for
food, I wash it well, and then rinse it before using it. Jars usually
have some residue that is not exactly good for eating. However, these
bottles have a small neck, and I would have to get a new bottle brush
to use on it, and even then I am not sure about this. Maybe rinsing
with white vinegar? Then with water, then distilled water, etc.
The reason I am asking is I had a severe reaction to small bottles of
water (different brands), on 2 different occasions, and I am nearly
sure it is from some leaching of plastic chemicals into the water. This
brings into mind that some distilled water is acidic, and therefore
more likely for this leaching to occur, so I am putting some into glass
bottles (this is to give to friends).
Also there is the possibility of contamination of the cs itself from
what ever is in the new jar that needs to be washed out for food
purposes.
Thanks,
Kathryn
