" By the way, has anyone noticed that dental caries problems have not gotten any better since the beginning of the fluor craze,"

Last week the dentist asked what kind of toothpaste I'd been using because I have a sore place on the upper gum that has been there for 3 months. I told him various natural ones with no fluoride. He about went wild, asking where I read that fluoride is not good for teeth.

<snip>

How could he be totally wrong? Is he wrong?

He is wrong. Period.

I got into an argument with my uncle once on this subject. He told me something interesting to back up his belief that fluoride was good...

He was a Medical assistant in the Army back in the 40s or 50s (I forget), when they were doing some tests on fluoride. He participated in evaluating these test results. He said the tests proved conclusively that fluoride was beneficial to the health of teeth in people.

We argued back and forth for a few minutes, and I finally just said something like 'Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree - as far as I'm concerned. sodium fluoride is a toxic poison, period."

Well, he got this look on his face, and said "Well, sure it is! The fluoride that is put in water, and that had such positive test results, was CALCIUM fluoride. We also tested SODIUM fluoride, but as you said, it is highly toxic."

Moral of the story: it is very easy to 'spin' an argument by failing to define your terms.

Sodium fluoride = rat poison

Calcium fluoride is what is found in natural healthful water sources, and what was used in the tests showing its efficacy.

This is analgous to how they claim that a daily 'aspirin' is good for the heart.

Most people don't know that the tests that were done used the original 'Bayer Aspirin'. 'Bayer Asperin' contains a lot of magnesium. Magnesium is the 'heart vitamin' (one reason why cayenne is so heart healthy - it is high in magnesium). So, it wasn't the ASPIRIN that produced the positive results, it was the MAGNESIUM.

Spin, spin, and more spin.

Caveat Emptor.
