**** Omigosh, I can't believe that!  I had a severe allergic reaction to the 
iodine based contrast dye used in a cat-scan a few years back -- the worst case 
of hives I've ever had.  My legs were swollen and red and blotchy from the hips 
down.  The itching was incredible -- worse than poison ivy.  Medication taken 
after the fact took forty-eight hours to kick in, and didn't do much to help.  
I was in misery for ten days.  I've often wondered what I'll do if I ever have 
to have another cat-scan -- hoping they have an alternative contrast dye 
product.  MA
