**** Omigosh, I can't believe that! I had a severe allergic reaction to the iodine based contrast dye used in a cat-scan a few years back -- the worst case of hives I've ever had. My legs were swollen and red and blotchy from the hips down. The itching was incredible -- worse than poison ivy. Medication taken after the fact took forty-eight hours to kick in, and didn't do much to help. I was in misery for ten days. I've often wondered what I'll do if I ever have to have another cat-scan -- hoping they have an alternative contrast dye product.
