BELGRADE, SERBIA, YUGOSLAVIA
Picture dated 15 September 2000 shows Marija Milosevic, the daughter of the
former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic, attending a ceremony in Belgrade's
hospital "Narodni Front". Marija Milosevic has joined the ultranationalist
Serbian radical party (SRS), the Belgrade daily Politika reported Thursday 30
August 2001. Until now Marija has kept her distance from political parties,
officials from both her father's Socialists and mother Mira's neo-communist
Yugoslav Left Party (JUL), told the paper. Marija is still facing charges after
she allegedly fired shots at a Yugoslav government negotiator in the grounds of
the presidential residence as police took Milosevic off to jail on corruption
and abuse of power charges. On Thursday Slobodan Milosevic appeared before the
UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague for the second time.
