DPS SPOKESMAN IGOR LUKSIC:
WE SHALL ACCEPT THE COMPROMISE MODEL

Podgorica - Spokesman of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Igor
Luksic said that the compromise proposal of Serbia's Democratic Party
(DS) was respecting the political reality in Montenegro. The proposal
offers a transitional solution of having the legislators from all three
existing parliaments as members of the first Parliament's constitution.

The DPS will accept the compromise model, even though it considers that
member states should have their own laws ought to determine about the
manner of electing representatives for the joint Parliament in
accordance with their own laws - Luksic said.

Member of the Constitutional Subcommission Borislav Banovic stated that
there still remained an unsolved issue of whether the Subcommission
would find models of electing representatives for the future Parliament
of the state union.

It still remains to be seen which one of the proposed models will obtain
the necessary majority at the session of the Commission - Banovic said,
underlining that that issue was the most important one.
