What about using a thin client such as a neoware box. These are available for peanuts on e-bay (perhaps not in SE land, but cheap) and I am sure one would run a cut-down Linux and SIMH from flash. e.g. http://guru3.net/?Flexy Despite what it says here they do have a small fan on board but are very quiet Dave.

I would recommend a dual-core processor simply to provide better overall performance. Bruce C. What kind of CPU would be necessary to emulate a PDP-15 at or over its real world speed? The reason I'm asking is that I want to build a small system to interface with PDP-15 panel. I'm looking at the beagleboard, but wouldn't mind something simpler and/or cheaper.
