Just as a fun aside, you can fit hex-wide cards in a "long chassis" 8/M or F (the kind with power supply in the back rather than the version with the power supply alongside the OMNIBUS board). Haven't tried it with the FPP8A but it works fine with the RL8A, even allowing for easy cable exit. Can't imagine why it wouldn't work with the FPP8A. Using Vince Slyngstad's single-card 32K static RAM card makes a lot of room for other stuff in a 20-slot backplane.
