Hi Steve,

Yes, first, give an ID to your timeline view

    <div ex:role="view" ex:viewClass="Timeline" 
id="my-timeline-view"...></div>

Then just use CSS

    #my-timeline-view { font-size: 80%; }

You can get fancier

    #my-timeline-view div.exhibit-timelineView-timeline { ... }

It's best to use Firebug to track down the right CSS classes to override.
